امتدح الله بها نفسه في القرآن الكريم فقال: (( اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَى )) (سورة طه، الآية 8) ، وحث عليها الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم
فقال: "إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا، مِائَةً إِلَّا وَاحِدًا، مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الجَنَّةَ".
