The St George’s Town, was founded in 1612 soon after the 1609 Sea Venture’s (wreck ) on Bermuda’s reefs. ( In 1609 it was here where Admiral Sir George Somers and the first
colonists & two dogs landed.)The location is now well known as Gate’s Bay or Fort St. Catherine Beach.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee; collectively identified The Historic Town of St George’s and related
fortifications as a World Heritage Site and Diaspora Trail.
