AutBuddy is a mobile application built specially for children with autism, their parents, and teachers. This app helps children with learning challenges to manage their tasks, complete assignments and follow an organized schedule. Parents and teachers can use this solution schedule activities and keep track of their child’s progress. AutBuddy creates a bridge between parents and teachers, where they will closely collaborate and communicate about student’s daily activities and issues. Parents can provide inputs to teacher about the child’s activities at home, so the teacher can customize lesson plans and tasks. AutBuddy offers personalized features that are appealing to each student’s interests, and at the same time facilitates focused learning using audio/visual aids. This app also motivates the student to learn by having them earn bonus points and level up when they complete assignments. Students can use these points to play games and watch videos, although the app does balance the time they play and work using a timer feature. AutBuddy saves student activity data that can be used by teachers to create school level data reports effortlessly and help parents with various strategies to understand how the child progressing at home and at school. With AutBuddy learning never stops. This app was created by 6 Middle School Children from Maryland as part of the Verizon Innovative App Challenge and won best nation award for the 2016 app idea submissions.
